PEEK high-performance polymer framework receives extended CE approval .

Dental laboratories and dentists are now able to create precise, custom-fit crowns and bridges using the JUVORATM Dental Disc. The extended CE approval permits its use in the European market for anterior and posterior crowns as well as posterior and 3- unit bridges (maximum 1 pontic). Previously, the dental disc, manufactured from the high-performance polymer PEEK (polyetheretherketone), was permitted only for the CAD/CAM-based manufacture of implant-borne, fixed and removable prosthetics

In the future even more patients in Europe will be able to benefit from this premium metal alternative solution. “Today using JUVORA I’m able to tune prosthetics for a patient to their very specific individual needs”, explains Dr. Rajesh Vijay. “Patients of mine who have had JUVORA instead of metal frameworks, report that their comfort levels are much better. The reason they can say that with confidence is usually because they’ve worn a metal based prosthesis before so they can tell the difference.”

High Performance Polymers offer new opportunities

The JUVORA Dental Disc has impressed both dentists and dental technicians alike. “We designed the JUVORA Dental Disc as a framework for dental prosthetics with CAD/CAMbased production in mind, in order to offer the market an innovative solution. New opportunities are now being opened up with the approval for crowns and bridges”, says Lynne Todd, Managing Director of JUVORA. The unique material properties of the highperformance polymer can help address the issues of bruxism/parafunction and patient comfort as the material provides 26 times more shock absorption than Titanium.

JUVORA is sourced exclusively for the dental market from Invibio™ Biomaterial Solutions, and is the only PEEK that has been used successfully in human medical devices for 15 years.
